Oriole Park at Camden Yards, or simply known as Camden Yards by all baseball fans, is located a couple of blocks west of downtown, a few blocks east of the Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum. Camden Yards is a Major League Baseball ballpark located in Baltimore, Maryland and home field of the Baltimore Orioles. It is the first of the "retro" major league ballparks constructed during the 1990s and early 2000s, and remains one of the most highly praised since it opened on April 6, 1992. Oriole Park took the place of the Orioles' former home, Memorial Stadium.

Obata and Kassabaum, a Kansas City architectural firm of Helmuth, designed Camden Yards which inspired other cities (Cleveland, Denver, etc.) to build their own versions of this new Retro style ballpark. Its success and influence has been attributed by many to its careful blend of historic and aesthetic elements. The 48,954-capacity facility was built on the site of a former railroad. A large brick structure - the B&O Warehouse, eight stories high and stretching several blocks long, serves as the backdrop beyond the right field wall on Eutaw Street. The ballpark's designers used steel, not concrete trusses, and a natural grass field, along with other elements that harken back to classic ballparks.

In mid-1980s, former Baltimore mayor William Donald Schaefer helped push plans for a baseball-only stadium through the state legislature when he was still governor of Maryland. Construction on an 85-acre site began in June 1989, took 33 months and cost $110 million. Eli Jacobs, who owned the Orioles when the ballpark was built, wanted to call it Oriole Park while Schaefer preferred Camden Yards. Finally, they agreed on Oriole Park at Camden Yards. All seats in this park are great - the upper deck is not far from the field, the lower deck seats are close to the action and even the outfield seats are fairly close. Single-game and season tickets can be purchased by calling, visiting the Orioles' website or through Ticketmaster outlets. Ticket prices may vary based on the opposing team.
