The Reginald F. Lewis Museum features a permanent exhibition that enlightens visitors to the African American heritage of Maryland through three galleries, Things Hold Lines Connect, Building Maryland, Building America and The Strength of the Mind. Each of these galleries tells the inspiring history and living culture of the African Americans in the state.
For people who are interested with the struggles of the people of this particular time in history, they will learn more about the 200 years of slavery that heavily affected the family and community among the African Americans involved.

They will get to know how the African Americans were able to recreate and renew the bonds that they share with their families and community in order to survive the brutality and oppressing times. They have created tools that serve as testaments their commitment to one another.

Aside from these opportunities for enlightenment, visitors to the Museum can step into the Resource Center research on the specific details about the stories they have witnessed in the galleries. They can also take part in the oral history reading and listening studio; and watch films in the theatre.

The Museum houses its own Museum Shop and caf? as well.
