The Clara Barton Birthplace Museum features the life story of Clara Barton in order to tell the timeless lessons of compassion and service that can be seen in the stories of her life. Clara Barton was able to improve the lives of people by ?offering a hand up, not a handout,? as she would put it. Clara Barton has become an inspiration to many teachers, medical professional and social workers. Nearly 200 years after she was born, incredible stories about her humanitarian actions have drawn students and families to what used to be her home in order to be inspired and learn more about her endless mercy and commitment.

The Clara Barton Birthplace Museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It preserves her legacy of compassion and documents her life also as the founder of the American Red Cross. It also houses the Barton Center for Diabetes Education, Inc., which is a premier health education institution for children suffering from the illness.

The Museum also houses its own gift shop that offers dolls, magnets, and postcards.
