Established as a grass roots organization in 1975 by a committed group of citizens, The Danforth Museum of Art was established by a group of committed citizens in 1975. Originally intended as a grass roots organization, the Museum has grown to become a significant cultural resource center for the people of Framingham. The Museum provides its visitors a venue where they can have entertaining, informative, and educational experiences pertaining to the visual arts.

The Danforth Museum of Art houses a collection consisting of American art pieces that are used in the Museum?s educational programs and exhibitions. It also holds changing exhibits that feature contemporary artists. The Museum School enables the visitors to complement what they have viewed with classes, a variety of community outreach programs, and workshops offered by the within it as well. Through these activities and service programs, the Museum does its part in providing education to the public.
