The Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site was named after Frederick Law Olmsted who is known to be the founder of the American landscape and architecture. He is popular for being one of the leading park makers in the country. He moved his home to the suburban part of Boston way back in 1883 and made a full scale office to further practice the art of making landscape designs.

In the succeeding years, all the sons and other successors of Olmsted also applied and adapted his own ideals and philosophy in maintain such kind of designs. The famous elm tree in the historical site was recently removed to prevent any possible occurrence of dangerous accidents which can be caused by the old tree.
