The Freetown-Fall River State Forest is a state park and forest preserve located in Assonet, Massachusetts. It is part of the Massachusetts state park system and as such is managed by the state department of Conservation and Recreation.
The Freetown-Fall River State Forest is located on a 5,441 acre tract of land acquired by the state over a twenty year period that started during the 1930?s. This area of now public lands contains a variety of recreational facilities, unique natural habitats and geologic formations, as well as a rich cultural heritage. The Freetown-Fall River State Park also contains the 227 acre Watuppa Reservation of the Wmapanoag Nation and is the host of annual tribal meetings.
Popular activities in the park include hiking, swimming, picnicking, horseback riding, and sledding among others.
