The Higgins Armory Museum takes its visitors back in time through its arms and armor that range from ancient Greek Corinthian helmets to ornate suits of armor which were made and skillfully crafted during the peak of the Renaissance period. The Museum offers entertaining but informative programs and demonstrations that bring these arms and armor to life. The Museum?s collection boasts of pieces that come from all over the world and covering a massive number of centuries. These significant pieces have come from Feudal Japan, ancient Greece, Rome, and Renaissance Europe.
The Museum was built by John Woodman Higgins in 1930 for the purpose of housing its elaborate and eclectic collection. The Museum opened to the public in 1931 with its building boasting of a sleek state-of-the-art glass and steel building. The artifacts within the Museum are arranged gallantly in a magnificent Medieval Great Hall. This 2-floor structure is arranged with over 35 suits of armor as well as a stunning array of arms amidst tapestries, stained glass, and soaring ceilings.
