The Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology was founded by George Peabody in 1866. Today, it’s considered as one of the world’s oldest museums of its kind and boasting of one of the world’s finest collections of cultural and historical artefacts as well. Items displayed at its numerous exhibits have been sources from all parts of the world, with many of them coming from South America, Oceania, ancient Europe, and Africa.
This is not to mean the museum only has ethnological and archaeological findings only on display though. Also available are more than 500,000 different works of art that include drawings, prints, and paintings. Some of the most popular galleries of the museum include the Changing Gallery, the Encounters with the Americas Exhibit Hall, and the North American Indian Hall.
