The Prudential Center located right at the heart of the bustling Boston metropolis houses several commercial establishments and dining destination making it a must-go tourist hotspot and a famous landmark among Bostonians.

The remarkable Prudential Center is a conglomeration of different notable structures which occupy most of the land in the middle of Huntington Avenue and Boylston Street, only two blocks away from the Boston Library. The construction of the Prudential Center was highly contested even from its conceptualization in 1959 as residents opposed the dense building of skyscrapers overlooking the Back Bay. The Prudential Center is one of the earliest developments made during the urban renewal era of the city.

The highlight of the Prudential Center is the Prudential Tower which was inaugurated in 1965 and is 52 stories tall. The Prudential Tower reigned as the tallest building in the city for 11 years. It was also the tallest structure found outside of New York City. This dominance was ended when the John Hancock Center was built in 1976. The popular business icon features approximately 4,000 windows and almost 500,000 square feet of office floor area. At its highest level, foodies can enjoy expertly prepared food at the Top of the Hub Restaurant. For the more adventurous and are looking for exhilarating activities, the Prudential Skywalk is located on the 50th floor of the building and offers a 360-degree panoramic vista of Boston and other surrounding places.

Looking like a giant R2-D2 robot, a popular character from the Star Wars movie franchise, the 111 Huntington Avenue is another impressive building found in Prudential Center. It?s relatively new, only debuting in 2002 and was the highest structure constructed in Boston since 1987. The dome crowing the building earned its sci-fi nickname. The 111 Huntington Avenue features 36 stories and houses several corporations.

Aside from these, the Prudential Center also houses other office buildings, a few residential apartment complexes, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and the Sheraton Boston Hotel. In total, the Prudential Center covers a total area of 300,000 square meters of multifunctional space with 600,000 square feet dedicated for retail shops.

Speaking of retail, the most popular retail attractions that Prudential Center houses are Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord and Taylor which are two of the most acclaimed high-end stores in the United States. The options here are extensive with 75 shops and restaurants occupying this strategically located commercial microcosm. Over 60,000 Bostonians and visitors crowd the Prudential Center every day which makes it a consistent top five shopping complexes in the United States.
