The Purgatory Chasm State Reservation is a state park and recreation area in Sutton, Massachusetts. It is best noted for containing a .25 mile long and 70-foot deep chasm of granite bedrock. According to experts, the natural wonder may have been formed during the last Ice Age, which is about fourteen thousand years ago.

Also known as a unique natural landmark, the Purgatory Chasm State Reservation is a very popular outdoor recreational venue. It is famous among rock climbers and outdoor adventure enthusiasts as it provides great opportunities for some action. Picnicking, hiking, sightseeing, skiing, and hunting are also commonly enjoyed at the park.

Aside from the Purgatory Chasm, the Purgatory Chasm State Reservation also contains several other rock formations that are very notable and even have romantic names. The list includes The Pulpit, The Corn Crib, Lovers? Leap, Fat Man?s Misery, and The Coffin.
