The Quabbin Reservoir is a manmade lake, turned into a unit of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. It features one of the largest artificially made public water supplies in all of the United States.

The Quabbin Reservoir came about in the 1930s, when two huge earthen dams were created in the area. It can hold up to 412 billion gallons of water and offers a wide array of recreational opportunities to the public. It has facilities for shoreline fishing, hiking, bicycling, bird watching, hunting, picnicking, and snowshoeing. Park visitors can also gain access to scenic views of the reservoir and its neighboring areas through the park?s lookouts.

The Quabbin Reservoir also has a visitors center where folks can learn more about the area. They also offer interpretive services.
