When the name ?Salem? is mentioned, most people tend to conjure up images of witches and burning stakes but none of this applies to the Salem Willows Amusement Park. The park is unique in the sense that it?s not only rich in fun but history as well. The place started out as a municipal park that opened in 1858 and surrounded with majestic white willow trees that are more than two centuries old. Another event that gave the park a special place in history took place in 1906 when Americans had their first taste of ice cream on cones from William Eaton and Everett Hobbs.

For rides and attractions, the park has the 1866 Flying-Horse Carousel, which was designed by Joseph Brown, a famous woodcarver from Bavaria. In 1945, the carousel?s original horses were sold to NYC?s Macy?s Department Store for their Christmas displays. At its arcade area, there are vintage pinball machines, Skeeball, and lots of classic video game machines featuring the likes of Galaga and Pac-Man together with modern hits like DDR.

In the early 20th century, the park began hosting summer jazz concerts and this tradition continues to live on today.
