The Sandy Point State Reservation is a state park and recreation area in Ipswich, Massachusetts. It is located on Plum Island?s southern tip and is best known for its scenic shoreline.

A popular destination for families, the Sandy Point State Reservation is composed of 77 acres at Plum Island, which is deemed as a classic Atlantic barrier island. It was used in the early days for pasturing hogs until it became designated as a commons in the mid 1600s.

However, despite being a coastal park, swimming is offered with coupling caution to the public. The waters may be shallow and the currents swift, but they can be dangerous, especially during the winter months. Most people enjoy the park through fishing, wildlife viewing, hunting, and sunbathing.
