It was the armory used in the Industrial Revolution, Civil War, Revolutionary War, Spanish ? American War, World War I and World War II. In 1968, Springfield Armory stopped the manufacture of the arms. It was reopened in 1978 as Springfield Armory National Historic Site.

The Springfield Technical College conducts its classes in some of the buildings that were America?s arsenals. Between 1987 and 1991 major renovations were held at the Main Arsenal Building and The Commandants House. The Springfield Armory National Historic Site was organized to educate the people about the integral role Springfield played in the history of the nation?s military industry.
