British Landing is a historical spot in the shore of Mackinac Island. It is where the War of 1812 amphibious operation commenced. In this attack, the British Army was able to conquer the Fort Mackinac from the US Army.

The loss of the Fort Mackinac due to the British Landing is actually attributed to the military?s poor intelligence. The US Army failed to tell those who are posted at Fort Mackinac that war already broken out, so they should be prepared. This helped the victory of the Brits, who also enlisted the help of the local tribes.

Aside from being a battlefield site, the British Landing also became home to the drama scholar and Shakespearean, John McCabe.

Today, the British Landing is already a part of the Mackinac Island State Park.
