At the Call of the Wild Museum, which is considered one of the Gaylord?s iconic attractions, there?s no way you can get lost as long as you follow the bear tracks on the floor. These tracks will lead you to each and every exhibit of the museum. At the end of the trail you?ll find yourself in front the museum?s ice cream and gift shops, which is perfect timing since by then you?ll either be eager to rest and enjoy some snacks or do a little bit of shopping for souvenirs.

All displays at the museum involve preserved specimens of animals native to Michigan and set in vividly realistic backdrops. Some of the animals on display ? a number of which you can actually touch and ?pet? ? include a mighty polar bear standing eleven feet tall as well as a tiny half-foot long weasel. Displays are even accompanied by audio backgrounds, which include the sound of howling wolves, gobbling wild turkeys, and more.

To add a bit of fun to museum tours, the staff also regularly holds scavenger hunts and other activities for free.
