The Cranbrook Institute of Science serves as Michigan?s Museum of Natural History. It is located in the campus of the Cranbrook Educational Community and is counted as a contributing property in the National Historic Landmark District designation of the said community.

The Cranbrook Institute of Science can trace its history back to 1929 when the first exhibit of natural history was opened in what was the Museum Building then, but is now the Academy of Art?s Admin Building. In 1932, it was voted that the Institute be established, so in 1936, the first Institute building held its initial exhibit.

Today, the Cranbrook Institute of Science is a popular educational spot in the state of Michigan. It features a wide array of exhibits and displays and also offers a wide variety of activities for kids and adults alike.
