Jacobsville Finnish Lutheran Church was built in 1886 and is still of existence today despite its lack of renovations or restorations through the years. It wasn?t even made with the most weather-proof materials, as it is basically frame structure on top of a stone foundation. Its exteriors used wooden siding covers, and the roofs are covered with cedar shingles. This made this structure quite a spectacle in itself, and it is still sound enough to hold services during the summer.

The Jacobsville Finnish Lutheran Church is a worship place built by the Finnish immigrants in the Keweenaw Peninsula, brought to the area by the mining boom. The structure is truly simple in itself, but its spectacular durability is a real gem that is valued today.

Declared as a Michigan State Historic Site in 1977 after being listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, the Jacobsville Finnish Lutheran Church still functions as a community church today.
