Formerly known as the Thomas H. Hoatson House, the Laurium Manor Inn is housed in a historically significant building, once owned by Thomas Hoatson, Jr. Hoatson is best known for being a mining expert and official. Like his father, Thomas Hoatson, Sr., Hoatson Jr. was involved in organizing mines in different areas.
The Hoatson House was built in 1906 in the Classical Revival architecture, designed by the well known Maass brothers. The house was constructed as a surprise for his family.
Acquired by Dave and Julie Sprenger in 1989, the Hoatson House is now operated as the Laurium Manor Inn. The establishment features the 10 rooms of the original 45 as guest rooms. Certain rules apply in renting rooms in the Inn, though.
