Located in the Washington Township of the county of Macomb in Michigan is the Loren Andrus Octagon House. This special building was constructed in 1860for Loren Andrus.
What made the Loren Andrus House is its architecture. Sure, there are a number of other octagon houses in the country, but the whole idea of it is believed to be authentically American and unlike the architectural styles brought in from Europe. The fact that the house is also used in the Underground railway is another one of its special traits.
Currently owned and operated by the Friends of the Loren Andrus Octagon House, Inc., the Loren Andrus Octagon House welcomes the public during its regular Open House events. It is also available for private events and group tours by appointment.
