Held at Traverse City in Grand Traverse region, known for its record-setting annual tart cherry harvests, the National Cherry Festival is a weeklong festivities to commemorate, celebrate and enjoy the bountiful harvest of this sweet fruit. It is also a way of promoting tourism, community development, entertainment and cultural pursuits of the Grand Traverse region.

Held during the first week of July, the festival attracts up to half a million attendees! Around 150 events will greet the festival participants. Individuals, friends can families can partake in activities such as cherry pit spitting, pie eating contests and the coronation of the Cherry Queen. This is also when the biggest cherry pie in the world is showcased.
