Believed to be one of the most photographed lighthouses in the United States, the Point Betsie Light is a historic light tower that is now under the care of the Benzy County government. It was completed in 1858 and used to guide ships through the northeast shore of Lake Michigan in 1859 for the first time.

Point Betsie Light?s initial construction costs were $5000. It sports a cylindrical shaped tower measuring of 39 feet in height, but it sits on a dune so that can change. Connected to it is the keepers? house. It was also the last manned lighthouse in Michigan, only having been automated in 1983.

The Point Betsie Light has been recently restored by the Friends of Point Betsie Lighthouse. In 1984, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
