The Renaissance Center, also known as RenCen and GM Renaissance Center is one of the most dominant groups of skyscrapers in Detroit. It consists of seven skyscrapers that are interconnected with each other. Aside from being General Motor’s main headquarters, it also houses four movie theaters, a huge hotel, four top restaurants of the city, and tons of other services.

Among the seven towers that comprise RenCen the Detroit Marriot is the tallest of all. It is actually a hotel that holds more than a thousand rooms. It also features Coach Insignia, the largest rooftop restaurant.

The idea of the RenCen was conceived by Henry Ford II and the building was designed by architect John Portman. With the 73-story hotel rising as its center, it was dubbed “a city within a city”.
