Although, located inside the National Historic Landmark District of the Cranbrook Educational Community, the St. Dunstan?s Playhouse is considered as a separate entity from the Cranbrook system. It is an independent, non-profit organization that is aimed to produce quality theatre. It is formally known as the St. Dunstan?s Theatre, operated by the St. Dunstan?s Theatre Guild of Cranbrook, founded in 1932 by the son of the founders of the community, Henry Scripps Booth.

The St. Dunstan?s Playhouse is basically a 206-seater theater. It was also designed by the critically acclaimed Eliel Saarinen, who also worked on most buildings in the campus. They also have the stunning outdoor Greek Theatre, which was built in 1916 after the design of Marcus Burrowes.

St. Dunstan?s Theatre is voted as one of the best theatres in various polls, the guild is also an award winning troupe.
