Submarines are some of the most amazing naval ships nowadays. And they definitely are also some of the most storied, having been an important part of major conflicts around. The USS Silversides is certainly is no different.

Part of the Gato class submarines of the US Navy, the Silversides saw significant action during the Second World War, where she served as one of the patrols that prevented the Japanese navy from conducting further operations. After the war, the Silverside served as an auxiliary submarine, until she was finally decommissioned during the 1980?s.

Today the Silverside is moored at the port in Muskegon, where she serves as a tourist attraction. Visitors can explore the interiors of the sub and get a glimpse of how she once worked.
