3M Musuem is also known as the John Dwan Office building located in Two Harbors, Minnesota. It is the location where Dwan, started the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company, today famous known as 3M in 1902. This humble beginning became one of the world?s leading corporations for industrial, health, home, office, car and electronic supplies.

The first vision when the company was conceived was to mine and process corundum, believed to be a generous mineral found on the northern shore of Lake Superior. In the following years, the company almost went bankrupt as the mineral became useless as an abrasive. Later on the company was able to secure financial support from Lucius P. Ordway and changed direction in their manufacturing plans by focusing instead on the production of abrasives.
