Also known as the Historic Congdon Estate, the Glensheen Mansion was built in 1908 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The 7.6-acre shoreside property boasts of thirty-nine rooms and impressive Jacobean Revival architecture. Majority of the mansion?s original interior and periodic furnishing have been maintained as well as the property?s expansive formal gardens.

Nowadays, besides being a popular historic site, it?s also considered to be one of the state?s most popular paranormal attractions. The mansion is believed to be haunted by the ghosts of Elisabeth Congdon and Velma Pietila, Elisabeth?s nurse, who were murdered in 1977.

Similar to many other historical museums, the Glensheen Museum is available for venue rentals and accepts reservations for school tours as well as curriculum-based programs.
