The Hinckley Fire Museum tells the stories of Hinckley as an area for a well-developed lumbering industry and how it all changed in the fire disaster of 1894. It interprets the story of this Great Fire as well as the rebuilding of the town and its natural progression into agricultural lands.

In the past, coming of the railroad made the city?s lumbering industry booming for 20 years. Hinckley was then a growing and prosperous town. On September 1, 1894, a firestorm had destroyed 6 towns. It destroyed everything that was on its way.

Today, the Museum makes use of the depot facilities of the St. Paul Duluth Railroad in order to fulfill its goals of retelling the story to its visitors. It features the Men?s Waiting Room, the Women?s Waiting Room, the Freight Room, the Beanery, and the Depot Agent?s Apartment.
