Soudan Underground Mine State Park lies in the original site of Soudan Underground Mine owned by the United States of America?s Steel Corporation until the end of mining operations in 1962. In 1965 the United Sates of America Steel Corporation donated it to Minnesota to be used in educating the people about ancient mining. The state park is a National Historic Landmark operated under the stewardship of the Department of Natural Resources. The buildings on the surface can be viewed by the public. Two sets of tours are available to the public. One of such tour is the tour that showcases the mining facility during historic times.

Another tour deals with the physics laboratory that is currently active. Visitors and tourists, whether local or foreign, are lowered to the underground site through an 80-year-old hoist to the lowest level of the mine with the depth of 713.5 m below the ground level. Mine tours are offered daily from 10 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon. For those interested in group tours, a minimum of $90 is charged per group tour. For school tours a fee of $40 is the damage. For a unique experience a tour in the Soudan Underground Mine is greatly recommended!
