The Tangletown Gardens were created by partners Scott Engres and Dean Englemann, both of whom are horticulture graduates from the University of Minnesota. At present, over 3,000 varieties of plants and flowers are available for viewing and purchase at the garden. Besides which, the Tangletown Gardens also offer landscaping services, custom potting at approximately $100 per average-sized pot, and, lastly, coaching and other kinds of assistance for those who wish to make a career out of gardening.

In early 2011, it was reported that the Tangletown Gardens were building a next door restaurant called the Wise Acre Eatery. The restaurant would replace the former Liberty Frozen Custard gas station and, when completed, would serve eco-friendly and sustainable dishes such as seasonal salads and grass fed burgers.
