The Champion Hill Battlefield is the site where one of the most important battles during the American Civil War occurred in 1863. It is where the Union troops led by General Ulysses S. Grant managed to defeat the Confederate Pemberton and capture Vicksburg, Mississippi. The triumph from the very battle also got Grant promoted as a Major General.

The Champion Hill Battlefield now operates as a historic site. This National Historic Landmark features around 4000 acres of historical land. Tours are now being offered by the Champion Hill?s original owners? great-great grandson, making the whole experience even more interesting.

Visitors who are interested to see the Champion Hill Battlefield could find a lot of things to do on the site. Its great vastness offers tons of activities, especially the tours of the three contributing buildings and ruins on the area.
