Built in 1833 in the Greek Revival style, the Commercial Bank and Banker?s House is a National Historic Landmark since 1974, declared at the same year when it got listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The site was constructed by master builder Andrew Brown, but the design wasn?t his as that was already determined even before the owners sent out for a builder. According to experts, the site is the only antebellum building in the state that has a fa?ade that is finished with stone.

The Commercial Bank and Banker?s House is best known for being quite peculiar, combining the residence with the main structure. Apparently, this was for safety reasons, so it was done that way.

Now owned by the First Church of Christ, Scientist, the Commercial Bank and Banker?s House now also go by the name First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Banker?s House.
