The small city of Meridian in Mississippi is known to be a center of arts and culture. The city contains many art building and organizations and artistic and cultural activities. One of these art hubs is the Meridian Museum of Art.

Formally established as a museum in 1970, the Meridian Museum of Art has thousands of art pieces, documents, artifacts and other materials in its collection. The museum?s primary goal is promotion and growth of local art movement. It promotes and supports individuals, groups and art programs within the area and the region. The permanent and temporary exhibits are aimed to make the art reachable to the community. The museum?s collections include 18th and 19th century photographs, sculptures, traditional decorative arts, tribal materials and crafts.

The museum is housed in a former Carnegie Library building. It is designated a Mississippi Landmark, as well as a part of the National Register of Historic Places.
