The Mississippi Coliseum, built in 1962, is a modern facility with a large seating capacity. The all-season arena?s seating arrangement is said to be one of its most versatile and distinct features. It allows the entire crowd of 6,500 to watch performances and events such as a rodeo, circus or ice show. The coliseum has served as a venue for concerts as well. Famous personalities who have performed here are Johnny Cash, Rod Stewart, Van Halen, AC/DC, and many more. Up to 3,500 temporary seats are available for mainstream events like such. It boasts of a wide and big stage, with impressive sound and lighting facilities, making it the perfect scene for top musical showcases.

Located on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds complex near downtown Jackson, the Coliseum has hosted major conventions, trade and public shows, balls, banquets, circuses, rodeos, livestock shows, basketball games and ice shows.

From 1999 to 2003, the Coliseum was also home to the Jackson Bandits minor league ice hockey team. Every February, the Coliseum, as well as the complex, hosts the Dixie National Rodeo, the largest rodeo in the east of the River of Mississippi.
