The largest museum in the state of Mississippi, the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, can be found at the city?s capital, Jackson, Mississippi.

The museum?s vision aims to promote understanding and appreciation of the biological diversity in the state of Mississippi via museum exhibits as well as research, public education, and specimen collection. It also aims to encourage people of Mississippi to be aware of the environment and learn to respect and take care of the natural resources of the state.

The museum-park features a 73,000 square foot building overlooking a 300-acre park. It also contains 2.5 miles of trails and an open-air amphitheater. Among the museum?s collections are 200 aquarium species and a 1,700-square foot greenhouse called ?the Swamp?. The complex also contains a gift shop, auditorium and library.
