The Magnolias is built by Dr. And Mrs. William Sykes in 1850. One of the best examples of historical architectures today, it exudes a Greek revival design evident in its wide front portico. Using local materials and labor in its construction, the structure?s beauty is further showcased in the mahogany 3-level staircase that meets and crosses along the hall.

The mansion is known for surviving the Civil war without any damage.

Surrounded by magnolia trees that provide a pleasant fragrance during their season, the structure is now owned by the City of Aberdeen after it was donated by Clarence Day in 1986. The picture perfect scenery it provides makes it perfect as a venue for weddings, receptions, and other special occasions.
