The Vicksburg Battlefield Museum enables visitors to walk through military and maritime history. In the Museum, ships and boats are brought to life as they are represented by their exact replicas. The Museum houses the largest collection of the nation?s war between the states gunboats. Inside, visitors can find the Steamer Sprague, the Big Mama of the Mississippi, and hundreds of other vessels that were used from every period in the history of the United States.

Other attractions in the Museum are the strange dragon-headed ?Western Engineer?, the famous racing ?Robert E. Lee,? and the ?Natchez.? The Battlefield Museum also houses the earliest submarine and the latest fighting ships. And in order to continue promoting the appreciation for military and maritime history among people, the Museum continues to make new models every month with the help of the best model makers in America.

The Museum features exhibits such as the ?If It Floats, Put a Cannon On It!? which showcases ships that were used on the Mississippi River during the Civil War, the ?They Also Fought? exhibit, which features submarines, blockade runners, Confederate raiders, tinclads, ironclads, and hospital ships which were also used in the Civil War.
