The Boone’s Lick State Historic Site started with the gathering up of the sons of a popular frontiersman way back in 1805. There were Daniel and Nathan Boone who partnered up with Jesse and James Morrison to become producers of salt. Their product of salt then was made in this very location until the year of 1883. During those times in the past, all the salt were transported to St. Louis with a keelboat, traveling through the Missouri River.

This site has been considered historical since all the remnants of the establishment can still be seen. You can still witness all the salt works and iron kettles around the place up to this day. It has served as an ancient historical piece on its own.
