The Discovery Center of Springfield features innovative and educational hands-on exhibits for visitors. As it continues to offer more displays, it also offers 20 unique classes suitable for groups of students as well as 8 weeks of summer workshops for children, outreach programs, and distance learning programs such as videoconferencing technology. The institution also hosts its own educational events, community projects, and it also provides its space for birthday parties and rentals for certain groups.

Today, the Discovery Center of Springfield boasts of 50,000 square feet of interactive exhibit space. Its exhibit programs include those that cover the hard sciences, technology, math, health, the environment, culture, art and communications, and many more. The institution also organizes traveling exhibits two to three times per year in order to offer something new to visitors.

As the only educational resource center of its kind, the Discovery Center of Springfield serves schools and families throughout the region. It also serves as the only youth activity center in Southern Missouri offering a wide range of exhibits, hands-on activities, special programs and events that promote the exploration for the broad spectrum of educational goals.
