The Kansas City Zoo or formally known as the Kansas City Zoological Park was opened to the public on December 13, 1909 which was 2 years later after it was conceptualized. It is a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums or AZA and has received several acknowledgements. One of it was ranking as the ?Number 1 Zoo in the U.S.? by the America?s Best Zoos in 2008.

The zoo houses over 1,300 animals and has been running the ?Friends of the Zoo? membership and discount program to encourage more people to visit them more often.

The zoo park is 202 acres big and some if its notable exhibits include the wide-ranging 95-acre Africa exhibit, the Australian animals exhibit, the Pachyderm exhibit and its chimpanzee exhibit that is considered as one of the best in North America.
