Another example of the ?poteaux-sur-solle? or ?posts-in-soil? architecture, the La Maison de Guibourd is a contributing property to the National Historic Landmark of the Ste. Genevieve Historic District. It is located in the old French settlement, Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.
The La Maison de Guibourd is owned by Jacques Jean-Rene Guibourd de Luzinais after receiving a Spanish land grant. His family gained prominence in the area through time and even had a grandson who studied medicine in Paris. This French Colonial house stands as proof of their hard work and good fortune.
Today, the Maison de Guibourd functions as a historic house museum under the care of the State of Missouri. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
