The Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site is a state park and historic site in Florida, Missouri. It is best noted for its association with Mark Twain, a famous novelist and Missouri native.
Created in 1924, the Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site was established in order to preserve the place where Mark Twain, or Samuel Clemens (Twain?s real name), was born in. The house is a two-room rented cabin and features a number of items from Twain?s Connecticut home. A great number of first editions of his works as well as a handwritten manuscript of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer are also on display at the site.
The Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site is open year round from 10 in the morning.
