Historic trains, automobiles and boats. They are all present in Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, Missouri. Also known as MOT, this transportation museum was founded in 1944 by a group of people who wanted to collect, preserve and exhibit past and present vehicles used as transportation in American history. The extensive collection includes antique locomotives, rolling stocks, trains, cars, planes, boats, and railroad equipments. One of this open museum’s main attractions is a miniature train that circles around a loop of track.

The museum has its own railway that is connected to an active Union Pacific Railroad, which allows it to acquire large pieces of locomotives to add to its collections. The railroad collection includes Aerotrain No.3 and “The Whale”, the largest tank car ever built. Other collections include a Missouri River towboat, C-47 Skytrain and 1908 Galloway Express truck.
