Deemed as Columbia, Missouri’s first skyscraper upon its opening in 1928, the Tiger Hotel was once a posh, 10-story, 115-room hotel. It served as a hotel until the mid 1980s, was transformed to a retirement home called the Tiger-Kensington until 2007. It then operated as Forrest Theatre until 2009, which became home to the True/False Film Festival.

Once the home of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s daughter, Rose Wilder Lane, the Tiger Hotel is now being prepped to become a boutique hotel once again. It was also once a night life hot spot with its exclusive, top floor night clubs, the hotel has proven its capabilities when it comes to attracting guests. If not for financial issues, this contributing site to the National Register of Historic Places could have continued its legacy.
