White Haven, or the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site is located in Grantwood Village, in the county of St. Louis Missouri. This 9.65 acre park is the home to five historic structures, which includes a barn, the two-story main house, a chicken house, an icehouse, and a stone building.

Originally, White Haven was a plantation owned by the Dent family, who later on became Grant?s in-laws when he married the eldest daughter, Julia. It also became their home in 1854 to 1859 until they had to move because out due to the farming depression.

White Haven was then purchased by Grant and prepared as a retirement home when he finishes his term as a president. However, things turned a different road when he had to sell the property to repay loans. The transformation to Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site started in 1985, when efforts were made to preserve the site and commemorate the life of the former president.
