The Ancient Order of Hibernians, commonly known as the Hibernians or the AOH, is a fraternal organization based on the membership?s Catholic Irish ancestry. They were formed in 1836 in the coal-mining regions of New York and Pennsylvania. They are believed to be the oldest lay Catholic ethnic organization that is in operation in United States.

The Ancient Order of Hibernians Hall is the AOH?s home in Anaconda, Montana. It was built in 1899 in the Queen Anne and Romanesque styles of architecture after the group?s establishment in the city in 1885.

Today, the Ancient Order of Hibernians Hall is a part of Anaconda?s historical district. Sadly, even if it is already placed in the National Register of Historic Places, it is still threatened to be demolished to give way to a mall.
