The oldest running house of prostitution in the United States, the Dumas Brothel is a recognized historical landmark, being a part of the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1890, and has operated legally as a brothel from the year it was completed until 1982.

Dumas Brothel, formerly known as the Dumas Hotel is located in the town of Butte, Montana. Back in the days, this area was a metal mining town, meaning there were tons of miners who also visited the bordello. The business was truly excellent in its first half-century of operation that all 43 rooms were used regularly.

When the Dumas Brothel was shut down in 1982, it became a museum celebrating its history. However, due to disrepair, it was closed again in 2005, only to be reopened and restored in 2008.
