In celebration of the Western cattle industry from the mid 1800s up until today, the Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site was created in 1972. It features of 1500 acres worth of land area in Powell County, Montana.
The Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site was named after the industry’s pioneers in the area, Johnny Grant and Conrad Kohrs. The two originally established and developed the historic site, making it just appropriate to honor them by naming the area after them.
Today, the National Park Service-run Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site features 90 historic structures, guided tours, walking trails, activities for kids and adults alike, and regular special events to entertain and better educate its visitors. There’s also a museum that offers a visual tour of the history of the area.
