Considered as Montana?s highest dam and 11th*largest concrete dam in the whole of the United States, the Hungry Horse Dam is truly a one-of-a-kind construction. The dam was completed in 1953 and was back then the 4th*largest in the whole wide world, with a height of 564 feet.

The Hungry Horse Dam is just a few distance from Glacier National Park and is one of the spots that tourists often come to see. Around the dam, you will see quite a scenery of tall mountains that offer activities such as hiking and fishing. The dam was named after two husky horses that got lost and trapped in deep snow. The horses were later found, weak and hungry, but were lucky enough to live. Since then, the name Hungry Horse remained and became the name of this city and this famous dam.
