The Phillips County Museum has a rich natural and historical heritage. Located along Montana's high-line, the mission of the museum is to preserve, collect and interpret its rich heritage for current and future generations. Its resident Indians, cowboys, dinosaurs, outlaws and pioneers all left their mark on the natural and cultural history of the area.

The museum?s continually changing exhibits reflect all of the historical inhabitants of Phillips County with distinctive displays for every field of interest. Throughout the museum visitors can see examples of how cowboys, Indians and pioneers played and worked. Toys, instruments, tools, furniture, clothing and historic images are all on exhibit. Of special interest are the life-size replicas of a one-room schoolhouse, cowboy bunkhouse, mercantile and church.

Another highlight is the exhibit on native outlaw celebrity, Kid Curry. In 1894 he started his outlaw career at Phillips County when he shot 'Pike' Landusky. In the following years, Kid Curry perpetrated several more criminal acts in the county, including a train heist west of Malta in 1901. Genuine artifacts from the era highlight the story of the outlaw and his gang called the Wild Bunch.

The beautifully renovated 1903 H.G. Robinson House and ?Walk Through Time Garden? is situated directly east of Phillips County Museum. Tours are available upon request. The historic Robinson Home is a turn of the century mail-order home shipped out on the railroad and constructed on the prairie of the frontier.

The Phillips County Museum is a member of the Montana Dinosaur Trail. It is dedicated to the promotion and interpretation of the area's colorful and vibrant history. Many fascinating artifacts have come into the museum's possession through the years. The museum also keeps a large collection of historic photographs dating from the early days of Malta as well as extensive local history resources.
